LAST SIX MOVIES:

Goya's GhostsXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

A heartrending tale that takes place during the Spanish Inquisition, starring Javier Bardem as a Monk who is sent to try and free Natalie Portman, a young lady from a prominent family who is sent to prison, tortured and confesses to what the church considered a sin (which, at the time, was just about everything that conflicts with their point-of-view). An excellent movie, in every regard. Written and Directed by Milos Foreman.

Lars and the Real GirlXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Ryan Gosling stars in this superb film about a socially inept, lonely young man who purchases an anatomically correct doll and then pretends she is real. It is both funny and sad, yet marvelous in the end.

The BackwoodsXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Gary Oldman stars in this intense thriller about city slickers who find themselves in the rural part of Northern Spain up against some redneck locals who have their own version of right and wrong.

RenditionXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Stirring story of an abduction in mid flight of a suspected terrorist, who is flown to Egypt and then tortured by the authorities for his involvement in a suicide bombing. Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon and Meryl Streep head an excellent cast.

Resurrecting the Champ
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Samuel L. Jackson plays a homeless man who pretends he is a boxing legend known as Bob Satterfield who once fought the best fighters in the world. He is discovered in an alley by Josh Hartnett, a beat writer, looking for a story to sell to his editors. It's an okay movie with a flawed script. With a little work, it could have been much better.

Walk Hard-the Dewey Cox StoryXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Incredible performance by John C. Reilly of a rock star that looked to be patterned after the late Johnny Cash. It is both funny, sad and pathetic, an example of how fame can bring man a down to the depths of despair after raising him up to height of euphoria.
